Official rules:The Glendive Coin Challenge officially begins on June 13th, 2009. The Coin Challenge will last as long as there are coins. Requirements for the coin challenge are as follows: Obtain a passport and coordinate sheet; find 7 out of 9 temporary caches; find 1 out of 2 earth caches placed in Makoshika State Park. The passports and temporary coordinates sheet will be available Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm at the Glendive Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture; or seven days a week, 10:00am to 6:00pm at the Makoshika State Park visitor center. The passport is a vital part of the coin challenge. Once you have a passport, you are ready to begin the challenge. There are nine temporary caches placed around the Glendive area. Inside these caches are dinosaur stamps. There is an instruction card inside the cache. You will stamp your passport with the provided stamp, or write a password if the stamp does not work. Please place the contents of the cache back inside and place back where you found it. What coin challenge would be complete without an earth cache to go along with it? Well there are two earth caches located in Makoshika State Park. You can find the information for both of these caches on geocaching.com, waypoints GC1Q3G5, and GC1Q32X. To receive your coin you must find seven out of the nine geocaches and stamp your passport with the provided stamps. You also need to find one of the earth caches, it does not matter which one, but the earth cache named Hadrosaur fossil site takes you to a real dinosaur fossil! You will need to answer some questions to be able to log these earth caches and there is extra paper in the passports for you to write the answers. After you have met the requirements for the coin challenge, return your passport to the Glendive Chamber of Commerce or the Makoshika State Park visitor center. After verification of completion, you will receive your trackable coin. You may also keep your passport as a souvenir. There are also some 2008 Glendive Coin Challenge coins left and they are for sale at the Glendive Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture. Please limit one coin per username so that there are plenty of coins to go around. There are 100 available at the beginning of the event. These coins are trackable through geocaching.com. Please follow all guidelines for caching as outlined on geocaching.com. Above all, please enjoy your time in Glendive and have a great time caching!!! |
