The 1993 Legislature provided for the allocation of 60% of the net revenue from paddlefish caviar sales by the Glendive Area Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture. Montana Codes Annotated Section 87-5-601 authorizes this procedure.
This money is available to non-profit entities through grant requests of programs for historical, cultural, recreational, and fish/wildlife/parks projects. The project, or purpose of the project must show public benefit. No monies will be given to a project that is strictly for private benefit. Emphasis is on small non-profit groups in Eastern Montana. A 501(c) 3 status is not required.
All applications for Paddlefish Caviar Grants shall be made only on application forms from the Glendive Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture and mailed or delivered to 808 N. Merrill. Please provide (6) copies (or original and 5 copies) of the application and supporting documents. It is suggested that applications are either typed or neatly printed.
Preferential consideration will be given to those applications that can provide additional funds or in-kind services, or request less that 100% of the total project cost. Successful applicants of Paddlefish Caviar grants may use monies to obtain or supplement other grants or loans.
The decisions of the Grant Committee are final.
Recipients of Paddlefish Caviar grants will be responsible for submitting receipts prior to receiving grant funds. Reports on how funds were utilized and what results were achieved must be submitted before the end of the funding year. If the project is not completed within the calendar year, a letter of extension must be submitted to the chamber office by January 15th of the year following awarding of the grant.
The Committee will notify the Fish and Game Commission of its actions each year. A report will list the types and dollar amount allocated to each of the funded projects.
Applications must be postmarked no later than Monday, March 22nd and final notification is within 30 – 45 days.
