Paddlefishing Report

 (Please remember to hit “refresh” button to update the information on your computer.)

Catch and release days are Sunday, Monday, Thursday;
Fishing hours are 6 am to 9 pm - when a paddlefish is caught and tagged - the fish must be removed from the river by the end of the day (9 pm); no larger than an 8/0 hook may be used - following the harvest closure, catch and release snagging will be allowed for 10 consecutive days or through June 30th, whichever comes first.

We are off to a slow start, only 24 caught today with most of those caught at Richland Park.

Still another slow day, we are now up to 45 total fish caught with an 84 pound female being the largest. The river has risen in Billings so it would lead us to believe we will have a very busy Memorial weekend.

As of 4:30 today a total of 65 total paddlefish caught. In watching the river flows one could predict Saturday to be a busy day.

With the rain, snow melt and rise of the river, this weekend is predicted to be a busy one for paddlefishing. The river is coming up nicely - Saturday should be a good fishing day!

Catch and Release. The river is very high, approximately 143 fish were caught during catch & release on Monday. Tuesday & Wednesday should be very busy as the fish are definitely here.

River Height - 48.26; Mud Count - 1722; Water Temperature - 55. The fish are definitely at Intake! With our numbers at 572, FWP has decided to close our fishing season on Saturday, May 31st at
9 p.m. This is our 24 hour notice of season closure. If we go over our quota of 800 at Intake, our season will potentially end earlier on Saturday at Intake only. Sunday, June 1st, will begin 10 consecutive days of catch & release and then the paddlefish season will be over for this year.
