Untitled Event

Join us Sunday, March 30th from 2-5pm for a creative and eco-friendly workshop where you'll learn how to make your own Plarn (plastic yarn) and T-shirt yarn from upcycled materials! In this hands-on class, you'll explore sustainable crafting techniques that reduce waste while creating unique yarns perfect for a variety of DIY projects.

What You Will Learn:

Plarn Making: Learn how to turn plastic bags into soft, sturdy yarn (Plarn) using easy cutting and knotting techniques. We'll show you how to properly cut plastic bags into strips and link them together to create the perfect yarn for your projects.
T-shirt Yarn Making: Discover how to repurpose old t-shirts into yarn! We'll guide you through the process of cutting t-shirts into strips, and how to join them to make a long, continuous thread ideal for weaving, knitting, or crocheting.
Project Ideas: Get inspiration for your next project—whether it's a woven mat, a tote bag, or a home décor item. You'll leave with ideas for using both Plarn and T-shirt yarn in creative ways.
Eco-Friendly Crafting: Understand the environmental benefits of upcycling and using materials that would otherwise be discarded, making your crafting both fun and sustainable.
All supplies are included so just bring your desire to create!

Whether you're looking to reduce waste, try a new craft, or simply make something beautiful, this class will guide you every step of the way. No previous experience required—just bring your creativity and enthusiasm!

Montana Ag Economy Year in Review & 2025 Outlook presented by Extension Specialist Joel Schumacher

Friday at 1:00 PM

2024 was a mixed bag for the Montana Ag Economy.  The brightest spot was very strong cattle prices throughout the year.  Prices for small grains were weak for much of 2024.  Drought conditions returned to Eastern and South Eastern Montana in the second half of the year.  Cattle inventory numbers remained low as herd rebuilding after the drought years of 2021 and 2022 was hampered by strong prices.  Policy uncertainty is looming large as we near the 2025 growing season. The most recent Farm Bill expired in the fall of 2023 with congress passing a one year extension.  The 2024 election cycle brings new members to congress, it isn’t yet clear how or when policies important to agriculture, such as risk management, conservation and nutrition programs will be addressed.  The incoming administration has also indicated more restrictive trade policies are likely to be implemented which could be important to ag exporters.

What is Your Soil Telling You? With Chet Hill; Nutrien Ag Solutions

Friday 2:15 PM

Discuss with growers how to go through a soil test; and determine the balance of nutrients in the soil.  Calculate key ratios and determine which nutrients the soil needs most.  Not going to fix the soil but feed the plants.

Intensive Grazing presented by Montana rancher Gage Iverson

Saturday at 10:00 AM

Gage Iverson will touch on the ecological and economics of intensive grazing. He will also dive into his personal practices and observations over the past five years.

"Choice of ETN Cowherd" National Charolais Sale

The Eaton brood cow has nearly 60 years of high accuracy, genetics built into her pedigree.
The ETN brand is the breeds leading
source of Dams of Distinction. They focus on udder quality, pigmentation, fleshing ability, and marbling, all traits that have
obvious economic importance.
This selection has been a staple lot in the National Sale for years due to the buyers continued interest year after year. Nowhere else can they go to find this kind of quality in volume. To better understand the quality of
the Eaton cow, here is a breakdown of how they stack up in terms of EPD's. Of the 2,247 Eaton females, including replacement
heifers, this is how many rank within the top 25% of the breed for each trait:
CE: 787, BW: 1,004, MILK: 1,338, MCE: 1,554, TM: 807, MARB: 676
If you are serious about the breed, take a deep dive into this lot, there could be no better way to bolster your cowherd than with
an Eaton cow.

Selling:
Buyers choice of 100% in one female. Seller respectfully requests that you make your selection by May 1st.
